Berlin tours – From Kreuzberg to Adlershof

It is so much more fun for me to walk the city and not using public transportation. So this time we decided to walk from Oranienstrasse (Kreuzberg) to Adlershof where the new Science Center can be found, right next to the former airfield Johannisthal and in the direction of the eternal construction site of the new Berlin Airport in Schönefeld. This is one of my favorite routes because it will lead me through Görlitzer Park, Treptower Park and Plänterwald.

After a nice Latte Macchiato in a Café called Jenseits (engl.: the hereafter) we started our walk along the Oranienstrasse and headed towards the U-Bahn Station of Görlitzer Bahnhof. There are still a lot of Cafés, Restaurants, Kneipen (Pubs) and it is definitely multikulti which I like a lot. This is the place where I feel at home. The mixture of turkish, arabic, english, italian, spanish and and and oh I forgot, german languages is just what I need to feel good. At the big intersection of Oranienstrasse and Skarlitzer Strasse the Oranienstrasse turns into Wienerstrasse. One muslim community build a very nice looking Moshee and Community Center at the corner and the street is full of people. (click on the photos to enlarge)

Walking by numbers:

  1. Start Oranienstrasse / Heinrichsplatz
  2. Wienerstrasse
  3. Görlitzer Park
  4. After old train bridge (end of Görlitzer Park) take a left
  5. Don’t cross bridge walk to the right instead (this is called Schlesischer Busch)
  6. Cross the Puschkinallee and take a left at Eichenstrasse (Arena / Badeschiff) all the way down to the river
  7. Turn right and follow the way along the Spree
  8. If everything went right you should see boats. This is Treptower Park
  9. All you have to do know is follow the river. Shortly behind the Insel der Jugend bridge you will enter the Plänterwald
  10. At the end of the Plänterwald, no matter what you do, you will meet the Köpenicker Landstrasse, which will become later the Adlergestell
  11. Adlershof S-Bahnhof

Enjoy! #walking
